Billing questions, answered
Is there really a free plan?
Yes, and it is a plan rather than a trial that runs out. Starter costs nothing forever and needs no card: two production slots, three linked printers, one seat, and 5 GB of file storage, plus quoting, filament tracking, orders, and inventory. What it does not include is your own storefront, a custom domain, or channel connections. Those start on Studio.
What is a production slot?
It is how many prints can be running at the same time. Studio includes five slots and lets you link fifteen printers, so you can keep fifteen machines set up and have five of them printing at once. Start a sixth and it waits in the queue, then begins by itself the moment a slot frees up. Nothing is refused and nothing is lost.
Why are linked printers and production slots different numbers?
Most shops own more machines than they run flat out. Some are being loaded, some are cooling, some are set up for a job that runs next week. You pay for the printing you actually do, not for every machine sitting on the shelf.
Is yearly billing cheaper?
Yes. A year costs ten months on either paid plan, so two months are free. Monthly is the sensible choice while you are still deciding which plan fits.
Can I change plans later?
Any time, in either direction. If you are already on a paid plan, make the change from the billing portal and you are credited for the part of the period you have not used. Before dropping to a smaller plan, get under its limits first: nothing is deleted when you are over, but a full library refuses new uploads until you clear space. Billing is owner-only, so admins can run the shop without being able to change your plan or your card.
What happens if I go over a plan limit?
The meter on your billing page turns red and everything keeps working. Printuple warns instead of blocking, because refusing an order or a slice at a plan boundary costs you real money. File storage is the one exception: at the limit new uploads are refused until you clear space or upgrade, and every file you already have keeps working. Slice minutes and storefront orders reset at the start of each month. Printers, seats, and storage do not, because they count what exists rather than what happened.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
It stays. Your paid features run to the end of the period you have already paid for, then the workspace moves to Starter. Orders, products, customers, files, filament records, and print history are all still there, and they are all still there if you come back later. What changes is what you can do going forward, not what you have already done.
Does Printuple take a cut of my sales?
No, and there is no per-order surcharge either. Charges are made directly on your connected Stripe account with the platform fee deliberately left unset, so the whole amount settles with you. The only fees on a sale are Stripe's own, at their published rates on your account. You pay us a subscription and nothing else.
